Find a Block: Instructions

When you click Find a Block, the window will display the state of Minnesota.
To Move to your Area of Interest
Use the controls in the upper left to change what you see in the window.
To change the scale of the map (how much area you see in the window),
Move the bar on the vertical scale up (to get closer to the image) or down (to see a larger area)
To change the part of the state that displays in the window, either
Hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse to change the image, or
Click on the directional arrows in the upper left corner to move the map image up, down, left, or right
To change the map information displayed
The map opens with Terrain map type selected in the upper right corner. To change map type, click on Map, Satellite, or Hybrid.

To Display MNBBA Priority Blocks:
Click on any place on the map to display the outline of the block in which that point is located. If the block is outlined in red, it is a Priority Block. A green outline tells you it is a secondary, or non-priority block. When you display the block, a balloon appears with the Block ID and county name. The block ID also appears in the green bar at the top off the map.
To close the balloon, click anywhere within the block. The GPS coordinates of the point you clicked will be added to the green header at the top of the map.
If you click on the map and no block outline appears, you may need to zoom out (move the bar down the vertical scale) to view a larger geographic area.
To Print a Copy
Click on the File menu of your browser and select Print.
To Display features on the map
Click on the feature buttons in the upper middle of the map to show features in the state. "County" shows the county lines, "Forest" shows the state forests, etc.

Click on the feature buttons at the top of the map to show County or Region boundaries and various protected areas within the state.
When a feature is selected, click in the outlined area to show information about the feature.
Click the feature button again to toggle the feature off.
We recommend selecting only one feature at a time. Also, when a feature is selected, it may prevent selection of the MNBBA blocks.
Troubleshooting: This page uses a lot of browser memory when displayed with Internet Explorer. If you have trouble using this page with Internet Explorer, use the Firefox Browser or the Google Chrome Browser.
